Description | Oh, India. Where do I even begin to describe you. It's been nearly 5 years since my first (but, not last!) trip, yet in every Indian pocket I go to in other countries, I remember the music, dances, smell of spices and taste of food just like I sensed them back then. Just yesterday, I had a Masala Dosa in a tiny hawker stall across City Centre Mall in Singapore, and was brought back to the first time I every tried it in Hyderabad. I also had a dried Gulab Jamun at the Little India Arcade, and excitingly told my boyfriend how it was the only Indian dessert I've ever had the guts to bake on my own back home (thanks to my friend Aishu's going-away present of amazing [pre-mixed] batter). I remember being told once that, "the India you see in every 10 kilometres is different." It is a saying that I've realised as true first-hand in all the trains, buses and cars that took me across the country from north to south, east and west. The people, landscape, traditions and cultures in India are very diverse. |
